Unrequited Love: Photos for the Rejected

Who: Captured and printed by Marla Warner

What: This series is a set of original photography prints.

They were apart of my first public show, which was exhibited at  444 Dufferin Street, in the city Toronto, during the coldest month of February 2018.

The show was widely attended and the theme was a somewhat Anti-Valentine’s Day exhibit. The title of the show was called Unrequited Love: Photos for the Rejected. Each piece is a cinematic still of the emotional rollercoaster that is Unrequited Love. Each photograph is meant to captures a singular moment in how we process the pain of not being loved.

Each print comes with a Certificate of Authenticity from Rebel Howl Studios. As well as being signed and numbered by the artist. This series of photographs is printed on EPSON Ultra Premium Presentation Matte Paper. A heavy weight, gallery quality, paper.

Where: Each piece is printed by me at the Rebel Howl Studios workshop, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

When: The show was in the winter of 2018 and the photos were captured between 2015 - 2018.

Why: This series is on a subject matter that everyone can relate to. It connects beyond race, gender, sexuality, socioeconomics, distance etc. Every human, at one time or another, has been the victim of Unrequited Love.

Sometimes it happens between two friends, or family, or co workers the list goes on and on. and the point of the series was to show what we cling to once we receive the news “they just aren’t that into you”.

But it is also a reminder that we are designed to overcome this heart break. And if we are lucky , we become admirably brave after it, maybe even brave enough to fall in love, all over again, with someone new.

How: All photographs are captured by Marla Warner and printed in her atelier in Toronto.

*these prints are a limited edition series. With a collective print run of 100 varying in sizes and product. Once they sell out they will never be printed again.
