The Cancer

Moodboard Elements - Cancer (June 22st - July 22nd)

.) The “body water” trios in both corners go together, to represent a couple of things. First, Cancer is a water sign, they are ruled/influenced/represented by water. On this design I wanted to use the juxtaposition of raging, flowing, moving “bodies of water” trio against the clam, still glittering “bodies of water” trio. Both trios represent a Cancer’s varying moods and emotions.

.) All of the scribbles on the Cancerian design are in the colour palette of either water or pearl shades.

.) The dagger represents a Cancer’s violent/vengeful side. Cancers are soft, caring, compassionate and are often misunderstood as “weak” because they lead with kindness first. BUT, Cancer’s shadow is vengeance especially, when they or the people they love have been crossed. The dagger as a weapon must be used in close proximity to an opponent. Because of this, it is believed that it executes an intimate type of harm. All of which is the type of violence/revenge a Cancer would enact. Close, precise, intimate crimes of passion.

.) The crystal ball illustration represents a Cancer’s innate gift to predict the future. Along with Pisces, Cancers are the clairvoyants of the zodiac.

.) Cancer rules the breasts, chest, heart and torso.

.) Cancer’s planet is the moon. Similar to the moon changing week over week in a 30 day period so does a Cancer. The rollercoaster ride of a Cancerians emotions are not for the faint of heart. Because a Cancer is deeply influenced by their emotions they find great comfort/grounding in earth signs.

.) The human heart represents Cancer’s feelings. Everything a Cancer does starts from the heart/a feeling. They will never betray their own hearts. Cancer’s are the mothers of the zodiac. And the heart is the symbol for nurturing motherly care.

.) The torso illustrations again represent that Cancerians rule over the chest/torso area of the body. A Cancer should adorn this area of their body. It is where their power resides.

.) The colourful fish represent a Cancer’s natural stand out appearance. Cancer’s have a classic personal style that stands the changing tides of fashion and trends. Making them a timeless type of beauty. Cancer is always in vogue  and never seems to age.

.) It is well documented that Cancer’s cry. A lot. And although some might see this as a negative, for a Cancer it is a tell tale sign of emotional intelligence. Cancers are not fearful of tears or feeling the full weight of darker emotions within the human experience.

.) The anchor symbolizes a Cancer’s ability to stay in place and hold it together no matter the changing tide. They have the power to hold down everyone in their life. If you are lucky enough to be loved by a Cancerian, they will ease your burden. They will anchor you.

.) The crab is a Cancer’s animal representation. The crab has a tough exterior and mighty claws. But under all of that is very soft innards.

.) A pearl is made as a defensive response to a foreign particle from an oyster. I selected the oyster pearl combination as a representation of a Cancer’s tenacity through adversity.

.) This wave photo represents a Cancers ability to engulf and surround others. Water can seem very unassuming but one simple shift can change the flow of the water to become big, menacing and impossible to ignore.
